"They" say you learn something new every day... unfortunately for me, this was just one of the things I learned on this fine Monday morning:

The Meaning of Los
Polish (Los): nickname for a large, ungainly person, from Polish los ‘elk’.
Dutch: nickname from Middle Dutch losch ‘squinting’; ‘cross-eyed’; ‘one-eyed’.

It's a good thing I'm not part polish. I would then be a one-eyed ungainly woman.
