Something you can't replace

I may have spoken too soon. After getting a raise, I found out that the Design Studio at Haworth has been eliminated. So, technically I still have a job. Is it one I want? No. But I still consider myself lucky to be employed. Things will just look a lot different from here on. It's very sad to say good-bye to the job I loved and the people that made it so fun. I can't believe how attached I've become after one year in this position. I feel for those who had to say good-bye after a decade of work. The other day I was listening to some Cold Play and I thought of this song differently in light of recent events. All good things really do come to an end. But unlike the hopeless feeling this song leaves you with, I believe it's the beginning to something even more wonderful.
"Fix Me"
Cold Play
When you try your best, but you don't succeed
When you get what you want, but not what you need
When you feel so tired, but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse
And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can't replace

Thankfully, this past weekend I was able to forget about all this mess from work. Bryan and I headed down to Lethbridge to hang out with family. We escaped to the mountains for a day with Richard and Becky as well. There is nothing more calming and peaceful to me than the beauty of the snow covered mountains. And we could not have asked for better weather. Believe me, it was hard to make myself get back in the car and leave the mountains behind. That's why pictures are so amazing.

Oh Happy Day!

Leah is back at work after gallivanting around the world on her cruise….. Jamaica, I am very jealous! And despite the whack load of lay-offs at work, I’m happy to report that I still have a job. Hallelujah!
Plus, what girl would not be happy after getting spoiled by THE coolest guy? Here’s a very small sampling of Bryan showing some love.

One of the designers that I was working with on the NY showroom is now working with the design firm Pierre–Yves Rochon out of the Chicago office. Take a look at some of the amazing projects this firm has taken on.

Hard days work

My boss was doing some spring cleaning and found these AWESOME glasses. Who doesn't like the opportunity to dress up??

And here I am... caught RED handed, taking a "music" break in our new lounge area. Yes. I do get around to working some days. Promise.

Death Row

Some of you might know of the infamous family cat: Eddie. Honestly, it's hard to miss him. All 25 pounds or so of him. Well, those were the good days. Now a days he's looking more like something that's been living on the streets. But he's still Eddie, our family cat. I think he's hitting the 14 year mark this February. I can still remember the day he was born and everyone, but Emily, thought he was the ugliest of the litter. Lucky for him, that meant he was the only one left and Muffins (his mother with constant PMS) got the ol' boot. And he's had his share of enemies over the years: particularily any one of my friends that would show up in black clothing. Out came the roller, time and time again.

It seems as though Eddie has reached the end of the line. Over the past couple months it's been the topic of discussion every time I go home. What do we do with Eddie? You can only let an animal suffer for so long before you can't stand it anymore. Little did I know that this past Sunday would be the very last time I saw Eddie. My sadness might come as a surprise to most as I never displayed much outward affection towards our rather large cat. But I'm also a tree... rooted, and not easily moved when it comes to change. So, yes, I will be very upset when I return home to a catless house. It's all I've known for the past 14 yrs of my life. Can you blame me?

And I will miss Eddie, because whether I want to admit it or not.... I loved that cat and I can't believe that he won't be coming back...

Cough-e and T!

Coffee... I have given up on it. BUT. I've discovered a new love for tea over the past couple months (due to some outside influences). It's great. If I need to pass on coffee, tea will just as willingly fill the spot. This brand happens to be Fair Trade and Organic.... doesn't get much better!

If you Read this blog...

If you read this blog, I must first say that I am quite amazed.... You may be a little confused as to this new "layout". I decided to dedicate this blog to Leah, she has been my faithful blog reader for some time now.... and is probably the only one who would really miss this mindless part of her day. I give you, Dear Leah.
